Membership Story

Annual Banquet 		Membership is the life-blood of the NAACP. We rely on citizen support to continue our work on the part of the community. We depend on our members' generosity to insure the NAACP's independence. We depend on you to keep the flames of freedom burning bright.

Join the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP. You may choose from the following membership types:

Regular Annual Membership Lifetime Membership
Regular Adult $30 Junior Life  *
(ages 13 and under)		 $100
Youth with Crisis
(up to age of 21)		 $15 Bronze Life  **
(ages 14 to 21)		 $400
Youth without Crisis
(up to age of 18)		 $10 Silver Life  *** $750
Annual Corporate $5,000 Gold Life  **** $1,500
- - Diamond Life  ***** $2,500
* Payable in annual installments of $25.00 or more
** Payable in annual installments of $50.00 or more
*** Payable in annual installments of $75.00 or more
**** Payable in annual installments of $150.00 or more
***** Payable in annual installments of $250.00 or more

Regular Annual Memberships are paid yearly and include one year subscription to Crisis Magazine. Youth Annual Membership can be subscribed with or without the Crisis Magazine. Lifetime ("Life") Memberships are paid either in 10 year annual installments or in one payment. In addition to the five Life Memberberships categories: Junior, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond Life, there is a Corporate Life Membership.

Currently, the Branch has over 90 Regular Members. Since the late 1960's, the total of all Life Members worldwide has risen by more than 100%, to well over 100,000 now. Meanwhile, Life Membership in Alexandria has multiplied over twenty-six-fold, to 499 as of October 2000. Despite the National Organization's difficulties in the early '90's, support for our Life Membership program remained strong -- a tribute to this Branch's excellent leadership and its service to the community.

Each year the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP holds an Annual Life Membership and Awards Banquet to recognize those people who have fully paid their Life Membership dues and those who have demonstrated exceptional service to the community and the Branch.
