Since 1988, the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP has awarded over $15,000 to students who are Alexandria residents and T.C. Williams High School graduates. Last year the Branch awarded three $1,000 scholarships. We salute with pride these fine young men and women.

We are currently accepting applications for our 12th Annual $1,000 Education Scholarship in memory of Annie B. Rose. This scholarship is intended to provide financial aid to those who have successfully completed high school and who plan to continue their education in an institution of higher learning. It is awarded once a year to qualified applicants.

Eligibility:

  1. Must be a resident of the City of Alexandria.
  2. Must have a minimum "C" grade point average (2.5 or better).
  3. Must be a graduating senior or current college enrolled.
  4. Must have applied to and received official notice of acceptance by an accredited school.
  5. Must be willing to receive the scholarship award through the business office of his/her respective institution.
  6. Must be willing to uphold the goals and objectives of the NAACP.

Form of Application:
  1. An official NAACP scholarship application
  2. Two letters of recommendation
  3. An official school transcript
  4. A personal essay (200-300 words)

Procedure:

The complete scholarship application package must be received by the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP Scholarship Foundation, by May 1, 2002. Please mail the application to:

The awardees will receive a letter informing her or him of the action of the committee. The award shall be paid to the scholar's school.
